It doesn’t look much from the outside, but this is a wonderful 1960s time capsule near Richmond Park, London SW14.

It was built in 1964 by architect HMR Finn for his family and whilst quite traditional architecturally, it does have plenty of interesting features that make this quite an appealing proposition.

The most significant one is condition. The house looks like it has been barely touched since the mid-1960s. A look at the internal doors tells you as much. I suspect a few things here and there have been updated, but very little. This really is like stepping back in time.

With the right fixtures and fittings and perhaps an update of the kitchen and bathroom (not everything old needs to stay) this could be a wonderful 1960s pad in an equally lovely location.

Internal space covers around 1,860 sq. ft. if you include the garage and takes in two floors. Walk in through the teak-framed glazed front door and you are in the hallway which accesses a bathroom and separate WC, and a bedroom with built-in wardrobes and front-facing windows.

The original timber cladding covers the walls of most of the lower level (with the exception of the kitchen) including the large double living room with glazed doors to the rear garden. Also here is a slate-mantle fireplace and a glazed sun-room, which covers the length of the garden and in turn accesses the courtyard terrace and the double garage / workshop space.

Head up the open-tread timber staircase and you will find a further bathroom plus two more bedrooms, one with built in wardrobes and the larger bedroom with glazed double doors to a balcony overlooking the garden.

The location is said to be ‘sought-after’ and isn’t far from both Sheen Common and Richmond Park. Ultimately, that does have a bearing on the asking price, which is £1,595,000.
